Lindsay Thomas

Lindsay has been potting since 1995 and specialises in Raku. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Otley. Lindsay is influenced by the ancient standing stones and rock markings especially ones on Ilkley Moor near her home.

Raku is an ancient Japanese process where the ceramic piece is taken out of the kiln when red hot (960°C) and placed in sawdust. The thermal shock causes the glaze to crackle and the smoke and flames blacken the cracks and unglazed areas

Art or Craft Form:
Ceramics - Handbuilt Raku
