Introduction to Woodturning

Course Description

This is a full day practical woodturning workshop for beginners. Suitable for anyone new to woodturning or those with some experience who are looking to make a specific artefact and wish to brush up on their skills.

You will learn a variety of core woodturning techniques by working on a structured project making a turned artefact. Techniques involved will be, tool selection, cutting, hollowing, finishing and polishing.

You will use and become familiar with industrial standard woodworking lathes, a band saw, sanders and hand tools in a professional environment.

Course Fees (payable in advance)

£165 (artsmix Members) £185 (non members) Fees include tuition, supervised use of equipment, hand tools and all materials. You will be able to leave the course with the object that you have made.

Or get a group of 3 or 4 together and we’ll do our best to put a special course on specifically for you and your friends.

Due to the practical nature of these courses it is not possible to take any more than 4 people on any one course, so be sure to book your place in good time.
