Exploring Spirituality Through the Arts

artsmix* site responsive exhibition

arts @ Trinity, Holy Trinity Church, Boar Lane, Leeds City Centre

Open 4th - 12th Dec, 12 - 4pm (closed Sunday 7th Dec)

Following on from the successes of the art market & Sunday gallery at the Loft, artsmix have worked with partner arts@Trinity to create a stunning exhibition in the city centre.

The private view on Wednesday 3rd December engaged many art lovers and artists in a site responsive exhibition, specific to Holy Trinity Church itself. Artsmix members Giles Edsall, Miriam Laville, Bruce Rimell, Sarah Hughes, Oliver Neilson, Jess Laljee, Jane Sunter, Carol Soraindo, Deborah Benbrook and Natalie Wooler were delighted to present their pieces within the environment which inspired them.

“My work is about encapsulating an emotional response and having such a space, although daunting, is exciting in its possibilities. I am pleased that the work is not lost in the immensity of the space but works with its surroundings, metamorphosing depending on the view point”. Giles Edsall

“I felt very privileged to be part of the artsmix* Trinity exhibition” said Deborah Benbrook and Natalie Wooler, who recently got involved with artsmix.

“It sometimes feels that there is such a lack of purpose to making work that is not shared - it feels too self indulgent. To be given the opportunity to show in an exhibition with other artists and to invite others to join in seeing our interpretation of the space at Holy Trinity completes the working and allows us to promote our art to the wider public. This means a great deal as opportunities can be rare in Leeds. Thanks artsmix*!” Jess Laljee

The arts@trinity exhibition is open until 12th December, 12 -4pm (closed on Sunday 7th Dec), and artsmix* members are also exhibiting at Tiger 11 in Beeston until January.

Note:

artsmix has been part funded by the Leeds ‘Sharing the Success’ programme, part of the government's Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, and supported by Park Lane College Leeds.
