Local Artist Conjures Art from Our City Streets

oliver neilson flyerLeeds born artist, Oliver Neilson, will be exhibiting a new collection of his street construction art work in ‘Self-Assembly Yesterdays’ at The Design Innovation Centre, Leeds from 3rd to 25th March.

Oliver’s work is inspired by his native Leeds and adopted Bradford. Both cities offer through abandonment, change and regeneration, objects, materials and imagery for this exceptional artist to transform into unique artwork. Oliver’s reworking of familiar and rejected objects, possessions and building materials links the past to the present and gives value back to the redundant.

‘The city continually constructs, deconstructs, reconstructs.
Its texts, textures, structures and reflections configure and refigure.’

‘Self -Assembly Yesterdays’ is Oliver’s award winning solo exhibition for his first prize in the 2009, Artsmix Emerging Artists Award, 2D Practitioner Category.

Oliver’s work can also be seen at Debenhams, Briggate, Leeds from 11th March to 17th April.
