For just £30 per person, The artsmix* Workshop will offer Christmas Gift Making Sessions on Saturday 29 November and Saturday 6 December to help you beat the credit crunch and make your own Christmas gifts and cards, especially re-using materials and being creative with our state of the art wood working and screen printing equipment. Jewellery Making Workshop (Make your own silver ring)
Course Description
This is a 4-hour practical jewellery-making workshop for beginners. Suitable for anyone new to jewellery making or those with some experience who are looking to make a textured band ring and fancy brushing up on their skills.
You will learn a variety of core metalwork techniques through working on a structured project to make a silver ring. Techniques involved are, annealing, texturing, forging, soldering, filing and polishing.
You will use and become familiar with blowtorches, rolling mill, forging equipment and polishing machines.

Introduction to Woodturning
Course Description
This is a full day practical woodturning workshop for beginners. Suitable for anyone new to woodturning or those with some experience who are looking to make a specific artefact and wish to brush up on their skills.
You will learn a variety of core woodturning techniques by working on a structured project making a turned artefact. Techniques involved will be, tool selection, cutting, hollowing, finishing and polishing.
You will use and become familiar with industrial standard woodworking lathes, a band saw, sanders and hand tools in a professional environment.

£165 (artsmix Members) £185 (non members) Fees include tuition, supervised use of equipment, hand tools and all materials. You will be able to leave the course with the object that you have made.

Making Canvas Stretchers
Course Description
This is a 4-hour practical canvas-stretching workshop for beginners, or those who feel a little out of practice.
You will learn a variety of core woodworking techniques by working on a structured project making a traditional canvas as well as learning how to choose the right canvas and methods of stretching. Techniques you will learn will include marking out, accurate cutting, jointing, machining, sanding and finishing.
You will use and become familiar with the band saw, panel saw, woodworking machinery and hand tools.

Discover Screen printing
Course Description
This 5-hour course will show you how to create prints with photographic or hand-drawn images using water-based inks with this popular stencil process. Bring your own image and we will help you transform it into a print.
The course will cover theoretical information, looking at artists who work in the medium, as well as practical application, stencil making, ink mixing and the printing process.
You will use and become familiar with a variety of stencil methods, and the related production equipment.

£107 (artsmix Members) £127 (non members) Fees include tuition, supervised use of equipment. Some supplies, such as inks, newsprint, tissue paper and tools are provided free of charge. Other materials, such as quality printmaking papers and card are available to purchase. Please contact the workshop to discuss material needs prior to the course. Members are encouraged to purchase their own personal art-making tools, such as sharp knives, pencils & pens, paint brushes, scribes etc.

You can hire workstations for screen printing, woodworking and jewellery production.
